Terms of Use

StudyLapse · Last updated 28 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and XonLabs for the StudyLapse iOS app. By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

The licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use StudyLapse on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not sell, rent, sub-licence, reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent that applicable law says you may despite this restriction.

StudyLapse Pro

Some features are free. StudyLapse Pro unlocks full-length reels, 4K export without a watermark, all caption templates including Custom, and all share overlays. It is offered as an auto-renewable subscription and as a one-time purchase:

Subscription terms

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple and are governed by the App Store Terms of Service. We cannot issue refunds directly. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something has gone wrong, write to us anyway and we will help where we can.

Charge, and things earned in the app

StudyLapse contains an in-app currency called Charge, earned by recording study sessions, which unlocks drinks in your collection. Charge has no monetary value, cannot be bought with money, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred outside the app. It is not sold and is not part of any purchase. We may adjust how Charge is earned or what it unlocks as the app develops.

Your recordings

Your footage is yours. We claim no ownership of anything you record and we never receive it — the app writes it to your device. You are responsible for what you film: record only where you are permitted to, and be careful about who and what is in frame. Do not use the app to record anyone without their knowledge where the law requires their consent.

Acceptable use

Do not use StudyLapse to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to interfere with the app's operation or security.

Availability and changes

We are still building StudyLapse and may change, add or remove features. If we withdraw a feature that was a substantial part of a paid plan while your subscription is running, contact us and we will put it right. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Your device and your data

Because your recordings and study history are stored only on your device, you are responsible for backing them up. Deleting the app deletes them. Our Privacy Policy explains what is stored and where.

Liability

The app is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

You may have statutory rights as a consumer that these terms do not affect.

Apple

These terms are between you and XonLabs, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law where you live.
